WLC Member M. Cabell Clay has been selected as a 2019 American Bar Association (ABA) On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer. The award program provides national recognition for ABA young lawyer members who exemplify a range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service. Winners will be formally honored at the ABA Young Lawyers Division Awards Breakfast in August, and will also receive recognition in ABA print publications, online and via social media.

A selection committee comprised of attorneys from various practice settings reviewed nominations and made selections based on the reputation of the nominator, the professional relationship between the nominator and the nominee, and the nominator’s firsthand knowledge of the nominee’s experience, skill and character. Nominees had to be 36 years old or younger or admitted to practice for five years or less as of August 30, 2019. Self-nominating is not permitted.

Cabell is a Member of Moore & Van Allen PLLC where she practices Employment & Labor law and commercial litigation.

In the last five years, Cabell has contributed more than 2,500 hours to pro bono work. Additionally, she is a member of the Junior League of Charlotte, a volunteer judge for the Assistance League of Charlotte’s Teen Court, a member of the Steering Committee for Chameleon’s Journey, a grief camp for children run by Hospice and Palliative Care Greater Charlotte Region, and serves on the Council for Children’s Rights Board of Directors.
